Suswin – What it means.
Suswin is the Ojibwe word for ‘Nest’, which so accurately describes how Suswin Village will be a home for those who are striving to improve their lives, by taking advantage of the holistic services that the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre offer. Check out their services at www.nbifc.org.
Kindness to Mother Earth
Suswin Village includes features that reduce the carbon footprint of operating such a large building. High-quality windows to reduce heat loss, space for solar panels to be added at a later date, as well as the most up to date heating and cooling geothermal system. Learn more here
Spaces for Healing
Each of the 30 private units will feature a sleeping space, along with a desk, closet and private bathroom. Building security, access for those with physical limitations, and space for practicing our traditional activities have all been taken into consideration.
